PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced Crew & Equipment Design Engineer supporting advanced aircraft programs, including special mission platforms and next-generation aircraft. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative engineering solutions that directly impact aircraft functionality, safety, and performance.
As a key member of the engineering team, you will guide complex design initiatives and support the development and production of aircraft systems across multiple programs. Your work will help ensure that crew equipment and related structural components are designed, integrated, and certified to meet the highest aerospace standards.
Role Overview
The Crew & Equipment Design Engineer supports major engineering programs by developing and implementing complex design solutions for aircraft crew equipment systems. This position focuses primarily on Crew & Equipment design for Special Missions aircraft, while also supporting broader engineering efforts across aircraft platforms including the G500, G600, G700, and G800.
This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to independently solve complex engineering challenges, and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality aerospace solutions.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Design and develop crew equipment installations and secondary structures for special mission and commercial aircraft programs
Create and maintain 2D drawings, drafting documentation, and 3D models using CATIA V5 and SmarTeam
Develop engineering solutions that meet technical performance, cost, and schedule requirements
Select appropriate engineering methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex design challenges
Support aircraft development and production programs across multiple platforms, including large cabin aircraft and new product development initiatives
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including stress analysis, manufacturing, project engineering, and suppliers
Ensure designs meet certification and qualification requirements and contribute to supporting documentation and reports
Provide technical guidance and serve as a subject matter resource for crew equipment and related installations
Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, producible, and aligned with production processes
Develop and maintain engineering standards and best practices for design activities
Stay current with advancements in aerospace technologies and design practices to support innovation and product improvements
Participate in design reviews, technical investigations, and engineering problem-solving activities
Perform additional duties as assigned to support program objectives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
10 years of experience in a specific engineering discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree
Strong design experience in secondary structure and electrical component installation
Proficiency with CATIA V5 and SmarTeam
Experience creating 2D drawings and drafting documentation
Experience collaborating with manufacturing teams during design and production
Ability to solve complex engineering problems and work independently with minimal direction
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
Experience supporting Special Missions programs
Experience with qualification or certification reports
Knowledge of insulation, flammability requirements, composites, closeouts, injection-molded or sheet-molded panels
Experience coordinating across engineering disciplines such as stress analysis, project engineering, and production teams
Hands-on experience in manufacturing, testing, or prototype environments
Experience working with suppliers and supporting component integration
