Materials Associate
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85034
Type: Full-Time | Consultant (24 Month Contract)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | First Shift, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Materials Associate to support a leading organization in the aerospace industry. In this hands on, fast paced role, you will help ensure that materials flow efficiently throughout the facility—supporting production, inventory accuracy, and on time deliveries. Your contributions will play a key part in maintaining smooth operations and supporting critical aerospace programs.
Perform receiving, shipping, inventory control, and stockroom activities following established procedures.
Use material handling and packaging equipment to move, store, and prepare parts.
Identify parts, components, and materials using part markings, color codes, labels, and documentation.
Use desktop instructions, work orders, forms, and parts lists to complete daily tasks.
Conduct bulk counting using scales and tape & reel counters.
Pick and fill orders according to Bill of Materials (BOM) requirements.
Package parts using correct materials and handling techniques to prevent damage.
Store, shelve, and maintain inventory with accuracy and organization.
Perform system transactions (inventory recording, label printing, labor charging).
Create Non Conforming Material (NCM) reject tags as needed.
Conduct cycle counts and record results.
Support customer service windows and process material requisitions.
Track materials through both physical movement and system updates.
Receive and inspect incoming materials; escalate discrepancies as needed.
Package and ship outgoing materials according to instructions.
Load/unload trucks using appropriate equipment.
Build and break down boxes; maintain packaging supply levels.
Address inventory discrepancies and support continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate records of work performed.
Train new team members as assigned.
Follow all safety guidelines, including use of PPE and static control equipment.
Lift up to 35 lbs. frequently (occasionally up to 50 lbs. when supporting shipping/receiving).
Minimum 2 years of directly related experience.
Strong reading and math skills.
Computer proficiency, including email and basic system navigation.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Ability to use measuring instruments and handheld/power tools.
Ability to multitask and communicate effectively.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. regularly (and 50 lbs. occasionally).
Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and perform material handling tasks for extended periods.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Must provide steel toed shoes on start date.
Ability to work in an environment with adhesives, chemicals, and equipment that may emit fumes.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience in kit picking, cycle counting, and warehouse or stockroom operations.
Previous experience supporting shipping/receiving functions.
Prior experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
Familiarity with material tracking tools and inventory systems.
