PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Senior Level 4 Technical Design Engineer to support a leading aerospace organization across multiple Washington state production sites. This role places you at the center of real-time fabrication and design activity, addressing product and process challenges as they happen and ensuring accurate, high quality engineering definition throughout the build lifecycle.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to translate conceptual ideas into detailed component geometry—supporting production from design through fleet operation.
As a Technical Design Engineer, you will play an essential role in supporting design changes, solving production challenges, and maintaining technical accuracy. Responsibilities include:
Apply drafting principles and design fundamentals to create drafted parts and product structures.
Perform model definition changes based on engineering input.
Translate conceptual designs into precise part geometry and assembly definitions.
Support real-time product and process issues during fabrication.
Engage with cross-functional teams to drive design change, improvement, and operational quality.
Work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment across multiple shifts if needed.
Provide materials and process support for electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components across the aircraft lifecycle.
Review component materials, process specifications, and engineering documentation.
Identify and address non-conformances, recommending corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct lab and failure analyses to determine root causes and corrective actions.
Support evaluation and integration of emerging technologies for future product enhancements.
Collaborate with Design, Stress, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to resolve material and process challenges.
Produce requirements, specifications, and documentation to support deployment of tools, materials, parts, and processes.
Associate degree in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
6+ years of experience in aerospace design, including detail and assembly parts.
Working knowledge of computer aided design systems.
Understanding of product structure, machining methods, and metallic part manufacturing.
CATIA or equivalent solid modeling tool experience.
Experience using Integrated Visualization Tool (IVT).
