Technical Designer – Build, Troubleshoot, and Bring Advanced Aerospace Lab Systems to Life

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Technical Designer to support a leading aerospace innovator in Oklahoma City, OK. This is a hands on, high impact role where your electrical and installation expertise will directly contribute to the development and validation of critical lab systems used in next generation aerospace programs.

Role Summary

As a Technical Designer, you will develop and maintain electrical/mechanical documentation, support system builds, integrate design changes, and assist in troubleshooting complex lab systems. Your work ensures system accuracy, reliability, and readiness while supporting engineering teams and contributing to high quality product development.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, update, and release electrical and mechanical drawings, system designs, and engineering documents.

• Prepare documentation using design tools, incorporating design changes and validating accuracy.

• Create and maintain system design layouts; identify and resolve design discrepancies.

• Support system functionality testing, validation activities, and engineering test preparation.

• Assist with developing installation designs and part designs ranging from simple to moderately complex.

• Coordinate system build activities with internal teams and external suppliers.

• Locate source data, perform analysis, and document results in accordance with established procedures.

• Support production roles as assigned and follow all desktop procedures and publication standards.

• Review, verify, and update documentation for accuracy, effectivity, and applicability.

• Mark up illustrations and follow established formatting rules for SGML outputs when needed.

• Participate in the design, fabrication, build, and analysis of test systems and components.

• Provide hands on support in the lab:

  • Build wire bundles

  • Install components

  • Troubleshoot system issues for accuracy and safety

• Work under general direction with training provided after start.

Required Qualifications

• Electrical background and hands on wiring experience.

• Experience with wire installation.

• Ability to support fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting of lab systems.

• Education/experience typically including:

  • Associate degree plus 3+ years of related experience, OR

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1+ year of related experience, OR

  • 5+ years of directly related experience.

• This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.           

•         Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
                       

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical installation experience in commercial or industrial environments.

• Experience building or supporting lab test systems.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical publications.

Position Details

• Job Title: Technical Designer

• Employment Type: Full-time; Consultant (3 months)

• Location: Oklahoma City, OK (onsite)

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, Second Shift (12 PM – 8 PM; some flexibility)

• Pay Rate Starting at : $44.57 per hour

• Overtime: Available as needed
