Maintenance Technician – Lead High Quality Facilities Upgrades in a Dynamic Aerospace Environment

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support a major aerospace industry leader in El Segundo, CA. This role is ideal for a hands on professional with strong painting and surface finishing expertise, who enjoys improving workspaces and contributing to facility refurbishment efforts.

Role Summary

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in enhancing and maintaining both office and manufacturing environments. You will perform high quality interior and exterior painting, drywall work, concrete repairs, and general maintenance tasks that directly improve the employee experience and support ongoing facility upgrades.

What You’ll Do

Painting & Surface Finishing

• Complete all phases of painting projects, including surface cleaning, sanding, priming, masking, and applying base, finish, and specialty coatings.

• Match paints, textures, and finishes according to specifications.

• Use spray guns, rollers, brushes, and automated paint equipment as needed.

• Apply coatings to a variety of materials including metal, wood, concrete, and composite surfaces.

General Maintenance Support

• Perform routine facility maintenance and basic carpentry.

• Assist other trades with prep work, minor repairs, and cleanup.

• Conduct site walks to identify maintenance needs and plan repairs.

• Order and maintain materials to ensure work is completed efficiently.

• Document tasks and progress using a work order tracking system.

Work Environment

• Half office building, half manufacturing facility.

• Older building undergoing refurbishment—this role directly supports enhancement efforts.

• Small, collaborative team with strong communication and willingness to support a variety of tasks.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience, including at least 1 year of painting and surface finishing.

• Proven skill in all phases of painting: surface preparation, priming, masking, and coating application.

• Experience using spray guns, rollers, brushes, and other painting tools.

• Ability to work from ladders or aerial lifts.

• Experience with drywall installation/repair, concrete, and hardscape work.

• Ability to manage materials and inventory efficiently.

• Strong communication skills, problem solving ability, and a team focused mindset.

• Sharp attention to detail and proactive in identifying areas for improvement.

• This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with roadway and safety paint.

• Background in clean, safe maintenance practices within industrial or mixed use buildings.

• Experience supporting a wide variety of facilities tasks within a small, flexible team.

Position Details

• Job Title: Maintenance Technician

• Type: Full time; Consultant (12 months)

• Location: El Segundo, CA 90245

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift (9/80 schedule, 5:00 AM–2:30 PM)

• Pay Rate: $32.58 per hour

Training includes standard EHS and job specific safety instruction (such as aerial lift and fall protection). No specialized certification required.
