Position Overview
Job Title: Numerical Control Programmer Job Type: Full-Time; Consultant (6 Months) Location: Auburn, WA 98001 Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM–3:00 PM Pay Rate Starting at : $61.68 per hour Attendance Requirement: Regular and predictable attendance Work Statement: Non?managerial, non?leadership role
As a key contributor to the Machining/Tooling team, you will develop, validate, and refine complex multi?axis CNC programs that support high?precision aerospace structural production.
Key Responsibilities
Create, verify, and revise Machine Control Data (MCD), tooling geometry, and setup documentation for multi?axis CNC machines (primarily 5?axis).
Interpret engineering drawings, planning documents, and manufacturing requirements to produce robust NC programs for aluminum and hard?metal components.
Develop multiple setups and operations for complex geometries, ensuring tooling, fixturing, and machine selection meet tolerance and producibility requirements.
Produce accurate setup sheets and operator instructions that support consistent, safe machining operations.
Use simulation tools such as Vericut to validate toolpaths and prevent collisions or gouges before machine execution.
Troubleshoot and refine programs using first?article inspections, in?process feedback, and shop?floor testing.
Collaborate with planning, manufacturing engineering, tooling, and operators to optimize cycle times and reduce scrap.
Level 4 responsibilities (if applicable): Lead custom fixture design, complex tooling arrangements, and machining strategies across multiple operations.
Maintain program documentation, revision control, and compliance with configuration requirements.
Work under minimal direction while supporting a high?performance production environment.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of NC programming experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven experience programming 5?axis CNC machines for aerospace components.
Strong proficiency with CATIA V5 NC programming.
Proficient in NC simulation software such as Vericut.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation.
Ability to create clear, comprehensive setup documentation and operator instructions.
Ability to work the assigned shift.
Contractor eligibility under the terms of the engagement.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing custom fixtures and tooling for multi?setup operations.
Background defining machining strategy and selecting the best machines/processes for part families.
Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and first?article requirements.
Demonstrated success reducing cycle times and improving producibility.
Strong communication skills with cross?functional collaboration experience.
Experience with additional CAM systems or aerospace?standard post?processors.
Education / Experience
Education and experience typically acquired through:
Associate degree plus 6 or more years of related experience, or
Bachelor’s degree plus 4 or more years of related experience, or
8+ years of directly related work experience in lieu of formal education.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
