This onsite role in Des Moines, IA places you at the center of high-precision manufacturing, where your attention to detail and technical skills directly support the production of critical aerospace components.
Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Job Type: Full-Time; Consultant (12 Months)
Location: Des Moines, IA
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Second Shift
Pay Rate: $19.50 per hour
As a Manufacturing Technician, you will operate production equipment, assemble and test mechanical systems, and ensure every component meets strict aerospace standards. This role is ideal for someone with manufacturing experience or familiarity with small hand tools who takes pride in quality craftsmanship and precision.
Operate production equipment to build and test mechanical systems and assemblies
Follow blueprints, diagrams, and manufacturing guidelines to ensure precise product specifications and tolerances
Troubleshoot, calibrate, and modify hardware, fixtures, and software as needed
Use measuring and diagnostic tools to test and adjust systems and components
Maintain accurate production records including test data, time changes, and parts usage
Utilize mechanical and optical equipment such as computers and lasers
Rework and repair mechanical and electromechanical components when required
Collaborate with engineering teams by providing technical solutions and feedback
Assist with the design and development of components or prototypes when needed
Ensure all systems and assemblies meet established quality standards
Support environmental, health & safety (EHS), quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
Help train and mentor new technicians as skills grow
Perform additional duties or overtime when required to meet production goals
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in manufacturing, production, or working with small hand tools
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical instructions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
Basic troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills
Ability to accurately document production data and follow standard procedures
Ability to work onsite and support second shift operations
Experience working with measuring, diagnostic, or optical equipment
Background in mechanical or electromechanical assembly
Experience supporting engineering teams with technical solutions
Prior experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing environments
