About the Role
As a Sr Mechanical Design Engineer , you will provide technical expertise across the full lifecycle of cast and forged aerospace components. You’ll collaborate with engineering, quality, supplier development, and integrated supply chain teams to evaluate materials, resolve process issues, and support supplier readiness.
This Tempe?based role supports both new product development and existing product manufacturing for aerospace gas turbine engine components.
Key Responsibilities
Materials & Process Engineering
Provide technical support for the design and manufacturing of cast and/or forged aerospace components
Assess material properties, process capability, and production controls across aluminum, steel, titanium, and nickel alloys
Support materials and processes used in gas turbine engine hardware
Participate in all phases of product development
Supplier Engagement & Problem Solving
Work directly with suppliers to resolve casting/forging issues
Conduct supplier assessments; evaluate strengths and gaps
Support and occasionally conduct casting/forging supplier audits (investment casting, sand casting, ingot/billet, powder processes)
Serve as a liaison between suppliers and engineering, quality, SDE, and ISC teams
Testing, Evaluation & Documentation
Troubleshoot material issues and develop engineering?justified solutions
Review engineering drawings and ensure alignment with material requirements
Support process improvement using Six Sigma, Lean, and other methodologies
Generate and maintain technical documentation and compliance records
Additional Details
Must occasionally lift up to 35 lbs
~10% U.S. travel to suppliers
Must use TWB for weekly time reporting
Supplier will register worker in Fieldglass
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
4+ years experience in materials or process engineering
4+ years working with aluminum, steel, titanium, and nickel aerospace cast and/or wrought alloys
WE VALUE
Bachelor’s in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
Master’s degree or advanced engineering degree
Hands?on experience with casting and/or forging (powder, ingot, billet processes are a plus)
Familiarity with industrial material specifications and Nadcap requirements
Experience developing or working with suppliers
Strong background in troubleshooting material/process issues
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and requirements
Experience with Six Sigma, Lean, and process improvement tools
Familiarity with casting/forging simulation tools (e.g., DEFORM)

Pay Details: $51.40 per hour
