Airframe Design Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire an innovative Airframe Design Engineer for a 12-month full-time consulting assignment in Fort Worth. As an Airframe Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing airframe structures that meet stringent technical, regulatory, and customer requirements. Your work will directly support the development of next-generation aircraft, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance while advancing aerospace innovation.
In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will:
Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, installations, and 2D drawings for airframe components
Develop and manage engineering bills of materials
Review design definitions to ensure compliance with design manuals, customer specifications, military standards, and internal procedures
Perform detail design work under the guidance of technical leads
Research technical data and develop innovative engineering solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and maintenance
Support fabrication and assembly by providing manufacturing engineering assistance
Work with suppliers to resolve technical and design challenges
Ensure adherence to program schedules, cost targets, and quality requirements
Contribute to advancing design methodologies through analysis, research, and creative problem-solving
Travel to supplier locations as needed to support design and production activities
Location: On-site in Fort Worth, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift (6:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $70.00 – $100.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (12 Months)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace preferred)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in airframe or aircraft fuel system design
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with composite materials
Proficiency in CATIA V5, V6, 3DX, or SolidWorks
Familiarity with GD&T principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environments
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Familiarity with planning, manufacturing, procurement, and maintenance processes
Experience using PLM tools such as ENOVIA
Background working in complex aerospace or defense programs
