Design & Analysis Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Design and Analysis Engineer to join our partner, a leading innovator in the aerospace industry. This 12 month consulting role is based onsite in Long Beach, CA, where you’ll support complex electrical engineering projects that impact the performance, reliability, and comfort of commercial aircraft worldwide.
In this highly technical and influential position, you will design, integrate, and enhance electrical systems across a broad range of commercial aircraft—from legacy MD models to the latest 777X. Your work will help airlines upgrade connectivity, modernize interiors, and implement next generation technologies. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, interact directly with customers, and ensure systems meet stringent operational and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will drive engineering excellence across the full product lifecycle.
• Solve technical issues and support fielded hardware/software throughout the product lifecycle.
• Work with customers and suppliers to define complex electrical and electronic system requirements.
• Develop documentation, specifications, and procedures supporting electrical design and manufacturing.
• Review supplier technical data to ensure compliance and seamless integration.
• Provide onsite and remote technical support to airlines and modification centers.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary, agile engineering environment to deliver innovative solutions.
• Test and validate systems to ensure they meet functional and operational requirements.
• Apply your knowledge of verification, validation, certification, and qualification (DO160, DO178, DO254, D6 standards).
• Analyze test or design data and document results to show regulatory compliance.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated engineering judgment in complex decision making environments.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience with one or more of the following:
• Equipment Manager responsibilities for Line Replaceable Units
• FAA/EASA certification regulations
• Systems thinking and understanding cross functional program impact
• Data analysis and synthesis, including reporting and recommendations
• CAD tools and systems (CATIA, Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics, CAD/CAM)
• Certification and qualification processes (DO160, DO178, DO254, D6)
