Position Summary
As an Engineering Contractor, you will lead the successful execution of major engineering initiatives and contribute to research and development efforts of significant scope and complexity. This role supports the development and production of advanced aerospace products, balancing technical performance, cost, and schedule while delivering innovative and effective solutions.
You will serve as a technical authority, resolving complex engineering issues and shaping standards that influence diverse engineering activities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Program Execution
Guide the successful completion of major engineering programs
Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering challenges
Anticipate and resolve highly complex issues in creative and effective ways
Develop standards and guides to support diverse engineering activities
Balance technical performance, product integrity, cost, and schedule in problem-solving approaches
Subject Matter Expertise
Serve as a recognized authority within the engineering field, consulted extensively by peers and leadership
Exercise significant latitude in determining technical objectives and making authoritative recommendations
Work with minimal direction; performance reviewed from a long-range, results-oriented perspective
Continuous Innovation and Industry Awareness
Maintain current knowledge of developments in stress analysis, fatigue, and related aircraft disciplines
Recommend innovations to improve product quality, performance, and effectiveness
Support MRB efforts as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technical curriculum applicable to the position
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions
Minimum 10 years of experience in stress analysis on aircraft primary structures
Experience with fatigue analysis on aircraft primary structures
Working knowledge of Finite Element Methods (FEM)
Working knowledge of CATIA V5
10 years in a specific technical discipline
Or 15 years of broad engineering experience across multiple disciplines with a Bachelor’s degree
Strong ability to independently resolve complex engineering issues
Experience Credit for Advanced Degrees:
Master’s degree: up to 2 years of experience credit
PhD in applicable field: up to 4 years of experience credit
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Engineering or related discipline
Experience supporting Material Review Board (MRB) activities
Demonstrated history of technical leadership and innovation
