Manufacturing Technician I

Description:
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Manufacturing Technician I for a contract opportunity in Skaneateles, NY.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, legal documents and safety and ethical standards, obtaining legal compliance training.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for deburring and polishing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Good communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the flow of materials and components throughout the manufacturing process following work instructions and SOP. This includes loading raw materials into machines and ensuring that finished products are properly packaged and labeled.
• ROTO Processing of Material
o Deburring: Remove sharp edges and burrs from machined parts using hand tools, power tools, or specialized deburring equipment.
o Ensure that all parts are free from defects that could compromise safety and functionality.
o Polishing: Achieve a smooth surface finish on components by utilizing polishing tools and techniques.
o Select appropriate polishing compounds and materials to meet specific product requirements.
o Cleaning: Effectively clean parts to remove contaminants, residues, and debris before assembly or packaging.
o Utilize various cleaning methods, including ultrasonic cleaning, solvent cleaning, and manual cleaning techniques.
Equipment Operation:
• Operate finishing equipment, ensuring that all tools are in good working condition.
• Rotate out to perform assembly duties.
Production Monitoring:
• Monitor the manufacturing process to ensure that production runs smoothly and efficiently. This includes tracking production metrics and identifying any issues that may arise during the process.
• Escalate basic equipment malfunctions and production issues to Team Leader or Supervisor.
Quality Assurance:
• Follow the inspection plans that are outlined in the work instructions.
• Conduct visual inspections of finished parts to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Document any defects or issues and report them to supervisors for corrective action.
Documentation:
• Maintain accurate records of finishing activities, including production runs, quality inspections, and equipment settings.
Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and maintain a smooth workflow.
• Assist in training new employees in finishing processes and best practices.
Continuous Improvement:
• Participate in initiatives aimed at improving manufacturing processes and efficiency. This may include suggesting process improvements and participating in team meetings focused on operational excellence.
Safety and Compliance
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
• Participate in safety training and promote a culture of safety within the machining department.
• Proactively contribute to zero harm workplace for all employees by complying with legal and corporate (EHS) Environmental Health & Safety requirements, safe work practices and EHS policies and procedures consistently.
• Report all hazards, near misses and incidents as soon as practicable and participate in identifying actions to prevent harm from occurring to our people and/or our environment.
• Employees at every level are responsible for quality (GMP) Good Manufacturing Processes and regulatory performance in the department to ensure quality program is met.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, legal documents and safety and ethical standards, obtaining legal compliance training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and carry materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds is often necessary. Baxter ergonomics policy should be followed for any weight over 40 lbs. This may involve moving raw materials to production areas or handling finished products.
• Standing and Walking: Finishers typically spend a significant portion of their shift standing or walking. This includes moving between workstations, operating machinery, and conducting inspections.
• Repetitive Motion: The role may involve repetitive tasks such as assembling components, operating machinery, and performing quality checks. This can lead to repetitive strain on certain muscle groups.
• Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills are essential for tasks that require precision, such as assembling small components, using hand tools, and conducting detailed inspections.
• Bending and Stooping: Finishers may need to bend, stoop, or kneel to access equipment, perform maintenance, or retrieve materials from lower shelves or storage areas.
• Vision Requirements: Good vision is critical for reading blueprints, inspecting products, and monitoring machinery. This may include the ability to distinguish colors and see small details.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
•Accredited High School Diploma or GED.
