Job Title: Electrical Avionics Network Engineer
Mandate Duration: 12–18 Months
Location: Wichita, KS (Hybrid – 3 days onsite or more as needed)
Pay Rate: $80.87–$91.10 per hour
Overtime: Minimal (up to 5 hours per week)
Travel: Minimal; occasional quarterly travel to Canada
In this role, you will contribute to the design, integration, and certification of advanced aircraft communication and cabin network systems. Your work will directly influence aircraft performance, passenger connectivity, and operational reliability. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative, compliant, and high-performing avionics solutions.
As an Electrical Avionics Network Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Applying communication and network engineering principles to support aircraft cabin and communication systems design and integration.
Supporting network and communication testing activities, including performance and troubleshooting.
Designing system installations, conducting performance evaluations, and resolving technical issues.
Defining network architectures, interfaces, protocols, and topology.
Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Supporting change management through research, design reviews, trade studies, and impact analyses.
Ensuring compliance with applicable aircraft regulations and certification requirements.
Researching and selecting communication and networking components.
Partnering with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve production and test challenges.
Reviewing installation drawings, qualification test data, and reports.
Creating system schematics, interface documentation, wiring diagrams, and certification plans.
Developing functional test requirements, test plans, and compliance reports.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical or avionics system design or related field.
Strong knowledge of communications and network systems, including SATCOM and air-to-ground systems.
Experience defining network architectures, interfaces, and protocols.
Proficiency with communication and network test tools and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience with aircraft cabin and interior systems, including schematics and wiring diagrams.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Advanced understanding of avionics communication and networking concepts.
Experience supporting regulatory certification (FAA, EASA, TCCA).
Knowledge of cybersecurity and system safety certification.
Familiarity with CFR Part 25 electrical, avionics, and wiring design guidelines.
Supplier management experience.
Ability to decompose complex engineering challenges into structured solutions.
