Job Title: Equipment & Tool Engineer 3
Location: North Charleston, SC 29418
Shift: First 05:00 AM to 02:00 PM
Type: 100% On-Site
Duration: 12+ Months (Possible Extension or Permanent)
Position Overview:
• Develops program and project requirements, develops highly complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions, including alternatives for the Production System.
• Validates analysis of technical data, influences product engineering design and makes robotics, automation, or technical recommendations to support production system integration for an aerospace product.
• Leads the creation and modification of equipment and tooling definition at the program level.
• Executes project plans, provides input to Make/Buy decisions and partners with Procurement to meet program schedule, cost, and quality targets. Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements.
• Leads gated reviews and develops plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.
• Validates contractual performance milestones. Develops and implements workarounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software, and documentation. Conducts studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Designs, analyzes, and modifies aerospace manufacturing equipment and tooling that meet stakeholder requirements.
• Researches, develops, evaluates, and integrates robotics, automation, and new technologies and processes related to equipment and tooling for applicability to programs and products.
• Teams with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop and review bids and procurement specifications.
• Estimates, plans, manages and executes the acquisition and modification of equipment and tooling.
• Develops and implements testing and acceptance to validate performance.
• Creates and maintains related documentation for equipment and tooling, develops preventative maintenance plans and trains personnel as needed.
• Develops and implements interim solutions for damaged and unsafe equipment and tooling.
• Investigates engineering changes and controls equipment and tooling configuration in accordance with company procedures.
• Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tooling.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
• 3 or more years of experience working in a production and/or manufacturing environment.
• 2 or more years of experience using Microsoft Office and office computing systems.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Experience in Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDM.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience providing product definitions and technical support to groups, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
