PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global aerospace leader to hire a Software Engineer–Developer (Ada) supporting a high-visibility avionics modernization program. In this role, you’ll contribute to flight software development for a historic military aircraft, helping modernize navigation and display systems that are critical to mission success.

As a key member of the Navigation and Displays team, you will:
Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded real-time flight software across the full lifecycle.
Translate customer and system requirements into robust software architectures and designs.
Develop, enhance, and optimize Ada-based applications for avionics and control systems.
Integrate and verify software in real-time operating system (RTOS) environments.
Debug and resolve complex issues to ensure system reliability and performance.
Support integration, validation, and verification activities aligned with aerospace standards.
Drive process improvements, establish metrics, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions while managing ambiguity in a dynamic environment.
Contribute to research, emerging technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
5+ years of professional experience across the software development lifecycle (design, development, integration, verification, troubleshooting, coordination).
Strong experience developing embedded real-time software in Ada (required); experience in C, C++, Java, Python, or Rust is a plus.
Experience working in Agile environments using tools such as VS Code and GitLab.
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Solid understanding of hardware/software integration and system safety principles.
Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Bachelor’s degree (ABET preferred) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience leading complex avionics or control system development programs (military or commercial).
Knowledge of requirements derivation, allocation, and lifecycle traceability.
Experience with aerospace software standards such as DO-178C, DO-331, MIL-HDBK-516C, or MIL-STD-882.
Experience defining and executing verification & validation plans for safety-critical systems.
Proven ability to mentor engineers and guide architectural decisions.
Strong understanding of aircraft certification processes and regulatory compliance.
