Location: Savannah, GA | Pay Rate: $28.75/hour | Schedule: Full-Time, 1st Shift (5:30am – 4:00pm)
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced Upholstery Technician to support the design, fabrication, and installation of premium aircraft interiors. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who takes pride in craftsmanship, quality, and mentorship.
About the Role
As an Upholstery Technician, you will work independently to fabricate and install upholstery and trim components for aircraft interiors while meeting strict safety, quality, and productivity standards. You will also support shop leadership by assisting with project oversight, mentoring technicians, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Your work will have a direct impact on the comfort, appearance, and performance of aircraft delivered to customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, and interior assemblies and subassemblies
Interpret engineering drawings and material specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements
Sew, fabricate, and install covers for all aircraft interior panel styles
Cut and install advanced custom carpets with unique patterns
Use the Corridor material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off completed work
Accept Lead responsibilities when required, overseeing projects and delegating tasks
Conduct and support safety audits and ensure compliance with safety, 5S, and housekeeping standards
Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs
Mentor and train lesser-skilled technicians and monitor work for quality and productivity
Collaborate with Leads and senior technicians to implement process improvements using Lean Six Sigma tools
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 4 years of upholstery experience, including:
At least 2 years of aircraft upholstery experience, or
6 years of commercial upholstery experience
Advanced knowledge of upholstery and sewing processes and materials
Advanced carpet knowledge, including custom carpet installation
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation
Computer literacy
Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of inspection and process specifications and terminology
Experience mentoring or leading other technicians
Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement tools
