Quality Engineer I
PDS Tech Commercial is hiring a Quality Engineer to support a premier global energy client focused on electrifying and decarbonizing the world through products and services that generate, transmit, orchestrate, convert, and store electricity. Role Highlights:
Location: Onsite – Houston, TX
Pay Rate: $56.40/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (core hours with flexibility as needed)
Potential for hybrid flexibility in the future; must be local and able to report onsite
Travel required to assigned facilities
Define and execute product and process qualification activities for fabrications and complex assemblies to ensure readiness for serial production
Review and approve Manufacturing Process Plans (MPP), Product and Process Quality Plans (PQP), control plans, and inspection plans
Ensure CTQ requirements, customer expectations, and regulatory standards are translated into effective supplier controls
Validate First Article Inspection (FAI) and ongoing verification processes
Monitor process capability and drive corrective actions when targets are not met
Manage and approve Supplier Deviation Requests (SDRs), ensuring risk is assessed and documented
Evaluate and disposition supplier nonconformances in collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Field teams
Lead containment, rework, and recovery actions at supplier, assembly, and field sites
Ensure effective closure and documentation of quality issues
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Design/Process FMEA initiatives with suppliers
Implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions
Conduct quality system, product, and process audits at supplier locations
Verify compliance with QMS requirements and applicable industry standards
Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and blueprints
Experience with custom fabrication processes
Knowledge of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
Background in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline
Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Strong quality auditing experience
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage supplier quality performance
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
Experience supporting complex industrial or energy manufacturing environments
