Lead Advanced Manufacturing Excellence as a Senior Process Engineer (SMT)
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the electronics manufacturing industry to hire a Senior Process Engineer – SMT for a direct hire opportunity in the Richardson, TX.
Salary range - $110,000 - $114,000
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and optimizing SMT manufacturing processes to achieve quality, cost, and delivery goals for both the organization and its customers. You will play a critical role in launching new products, improving manufacturability, and driving continuous process improvement across complex manufacturing environments.
Role Overview
As a Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process, you will lead the development and release of full SMT manufacturing processes for new customer products. You will translate customer technical roadmaps into executable manufacturing strategies while ensuring optimized performance, cost efficiency, and product reliability.
Your expertise will directly influence production scalability, yield performance, and overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, implementation, and release of complete SMT manufacturing processes for new product introductions
Understand and implement customer technical roadmaps and related process development initiatives
Provide technical feedback and guidance to cross-functional teams and management
Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFX) tools and methodologies to reduce cost and improve quality and reliability
Plan and lead Design of Experiments (DOE) to assess process capability and optimize performance
Develop and implement process controls and data collection strategies
Analyze complex manufacturing data to evaluate yield, reliability, and root causes of product quality issues
Drive corrective and preventive actions to resolve manufacturing challenges
Communicate critical technical and business updates to leadership in a timely and effective manner
Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with quality, cost, and delivery objectives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
4–6 years of experience in SMT or electronics manufacturing process engineering
Strong experience developing and optimizing manufacturing processes
Working knowledge of DFX tools and process optimization methodologies
Experience leading Design of Experiments (DOE) and evaluating process capability
Demonstrated ability to perform data analysis and root cause investigations
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) in a manufacturing environment
Advanced understanding of SMT process controls and yield optimization
Background in high-reliability or complex electronics manufacturing
Proven track record of driving cost reduction and efficiency improvements
Ability to manage multiple technical projects simultaneously
Work Environment
Office-based within a professional manufacturing setting in the Fort Worth area
Extended periods of computer-based data analysis and detailed technical review
Occasional travel as required
