PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a premier aerospace industry leader to hire a highly experienced Engineering Development Mechanic in Huntington Beach, CA. This is a high-impact, non-managerial technical role designed for seasoned professionals who bring deep mechanical expertise to advanced aerospace development programs.
In this position, you will bridge engineering design and hands-on execution—transforming complex technical concepts into fully realized structural and mechanical assemblies that support next-generation aerospace platforms.
Job Type: Full-Time | Consultant (12-Month Assignment)
Location: Huntington Beach, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 1st Shift | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Pay Rate: Starting at $80.81 per hour
As an Engineering Development Mechanic, you will support advanced build activities across mechanical and structural assemblies in a development environment where precision and compliance are critical.
Your responsibilities include:
Building, modifying, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing structural and mechanical assemblies
Supporting heavy structure drill-out, bonding, fastener installation, and wire harness installation
Fabricating and assembling components using standard hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments
Executing work from engineering designs, computer models, work orders, and technical procedures
Using calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, countersinks, drills, and deburring equipment
Maintaining accurate documentation, buyoffs, inspections, and non-conformance records
Collaborating with engineers to recommend design enhancements and process improvements
Ensuring strict compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and configuration control
Supporting production line activities through expert-level mechanical execution
Regular and predictable attendance is required to support program timelines and development milestones.
Advanced education (Bachelor’s degree or higher) and typically 15+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive hands-on experience
Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent background in aircraft maintenance, machine trades, or manufacturing technologies
Extensive experience with composites, titanium, sheet metal, riveting, fastening, wiring, tubing, and basic machining
Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical data
Proficiency using torque wrenches, countersinks, drills, deburring tools, and calibrated equipment
A&P certification, specialty training, or equivalent experience
Exceptional attention to detail and advanced problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
