About the Role
As a Civil/Structural Engineer, you will design, review, and support a wide range of facility and infrastructure projects within a major aerospace manufacturing environment. Your work will influence building performance, operational reliability, and long?term site planning. This is an opportunity to apply multidisciplinary engineering expertise while collaborating with diverse technical teams and external partners.
Job Type: Full-Time, Consultant (12 Months) Location: North Charleston, SC Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift (6–8 AM start time through 4 PM) Pay Rate Starting at: $48.62 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Design & Analysis
Develop moderately complex conceptual and final designs, cost estimates, and maintenance support for civil/structural phases of buildings, utility systems, equipment installations, and grounds.
Review civil/structural designs for compliance with customer requirements, building codes, regulations, and construction principles.
Conduct conceptual analyses to determine root causes of asset failures using reliability tools such as lifecycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, and fault tree analysis.
Project & Construction Support
Provide engineering support for new construction, building modifications, and machine foundations.
Manage or support construction activities, including vendor selection input, proposal review, regulatory interfacing, and performance monitoring.
Ensure project documents, specifications, drawings, and permit application packages meet all technical and jurisdictional requirements.
Cross-Functional Integration
Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, consultants, and government agencies.
Review and approve detailed design documents and contractor redlines, ensuring accuracy of drawing archives and compliance with facility standards.
Planning & Standards Development
Contribute to strategic and long-term infrastructure planning by analyzing current conditions, future needs, and potential capital improvements.
Develop and update design standards and site-specific operating procedures.
Translate customer requirements into conceptual design options, preliminary plans, estimates, and schedules.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in an engineering classification OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience OR PhD with engineering experience.
Minimum 3 years of civil/structural engineering experience.
Working knowledge of construction principles, codes, and materials.
Ability to review, approve, and coordinate design documents across disciplines.
Experience supporting construction projects and assessing vendor performance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
Familiarity with reliability methodologies such as RCFA, MTBF, and condition-based maintenance.
Experience developing engineering standards and long-term site planning documentation.
Strong cross-functional communication and project management skills.

Pay Details: $48.62 per hour
