Summary:
Safely perform assembly, fitting, drilling, riveting, sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts and equipment on aircraft.
Move between tasks with minimal impact to established schedules and goals.
Rivet structural members, assemblies, and parts using appropriate tools (portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, rivets). Remove fasteners without damaging structures.
Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, rivet patterns, cutting, forming plastics, and proper use of adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
Inspect all work to ensure defect-free assemblies prior to final inspection.
Instruct and assist team members in interpreting blueprints, drawings, and engineering orders; develop methods and shop aids to resolve production issues.
Maintain logs and records (MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).
Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners; shape complex angles per specifications.
Perform repairs per DMTs, MRRs, and PCOs, ensuring installations meet conformity.
Maintain a neat and orderly workspace, support 5S & Lean initiatives, and comply with safety regulations, including PPE use.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Properly use, maintain, and return company-provided tools and equipment.
Follow SOPs for ground support equipment.
Collect and dispose of waste fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvents properly.
Ensure accurate daily job charging to aircraft.
Communicate and coordinate work activities between shifts through reports and direct leadership contact.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
4+ years of related structural assembly experience
Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred
Q-Stamp experience preferred
Ability to work any shift and lift up to 50 lbs
Basic computer and shop math skills.
Ability to read and interpret basic documents, instructions, and scale measurements.
Aptitude for hands-on craftwork, professional attitude, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Skilled in close-tolerance work and use of special tools/equipment.
Ability to work with composite resins and materials.
Ability to climb ladders, stands, stairs, and work in small/restricted areas.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
