Flight Test Inspector

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation industry to hire an experienced Flight Test Inspector in Wichita, Kansas. This role is critical to ensuring aircraft meet rigorous engineering, regulatory, and customer standards before flight. As a Flight Test Inspector, you serve as a key quality gatekeeper—verifying that aircraft structures, systems, and installations fully conform to engineering specifications and regulatory requirements. Your inspections directly support certification, flight readiness, and customer acceptance, ensuring aircraft are safe, compliant, and mission-ready.
In this role, you will:
Perform progressive, in-process, hidden damage, and final inspections of sheet metal subassemblies, major assemblies, installations, and aircraft systems
Inspect aircraft structures, interiors, paint, and systems to a customer-ready standard
Document discrepancies, determine root cause, and coordinate resolution with Operations, Engineering, Methods, and Production teams
Verify conformity of planning documents, visual aids, and technical instructions with current engineering data and aircraft effectivity
Inspect and witness assemblies, installations, and functional tests in accordance with engineering, refurbishment, modification, and production specifications
Perform conformity inspections per CFR Part 21.33 and applicable FAA/CAA requirements
Verify discrepancies are resolved prior to flight for our aircraft
Prepare and maintain inspection records, maintenance logs, aircraft files, and functional test documentation
Assist and mentor other inspectors within areas of qualification
Ensure all inspection paperwork complies with quality systems, policies, and procedures
Maintain current training, certifications, and qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience inspecting major aircraft structural modifications and alterations
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
Working knowledge of major aircraft systems and assemblies
Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple departments
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications (Solder, Torque, ESD, Bonding, Oxygen)
1+ year of mechanical inspection and/or avionics/electrical installation inspection experience
1+ year of aircraft conformity inspection experience
Functional test knowledge of aircraft systems, including cabin air, fuel systems pressure checks, and electrical resistance testing
Familiarity with FAA, CAA, and aircraft certification regulations
