Summary:
Perform stress analysis for aerospace seat and interior components using NASTRAN/FEMAP and other FEA tools
Develop, review, and validate structural calculations, reports, and documentation for interiors
Analyze design, test, and manufacturing data to identify structural issues or improvements
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and test teams to provide stress guidance and solutions
Evaluate non-conforming parts and provide recommendations for repair, redesign, or MRB disposition
Ensure designs meet applicable standards and regulations (CFR 14, Part 23/25, military, or NASA as applicable)
Support static, fatigue, durability, and damage tolerance analyses for interior components
Participate in design reviews, technical reviews, and cross-functional team meetings
Maintain accurate records of analyses, assumptions, and engineering decisions
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues during prototype builds or testing
Requirements:
Bachelor s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant engineering discipline
Minimum 8 years of structural analysis experience, including at least 5 years focused on interiors (can include design, analysis, testing, etc.)
Prior experience with aerospace seat design, analysis, or testing
Excellent understanding of material properties and behavior, statics/free body diagrams, and structural load paths
Strong foundational knowledge of stress analysis procedures, failure modes, failure theories, and applicable calculations (static and fatigue/durability/damage tolerance)
Proficiency in creating and interrogating FEA models, including pre- and post-processing of NASTRAN models and sizing of structural and system components
Strong teamwork and coordination skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proficiency with MATLAB, Mathcad, or other industry-standard engineering software
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with FEMAP and HyperX
Familiarity with manufacturing-based ERP systems (e.g., Oracle)
Experience designing flight vehicles or systems to regulatory or industry standards (e.g., CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23/25, military, or NASA standards)
