PDS Tech is seeking a motivated, collaborative Composites Materials & Processes (M&P) Engineer to join our team supporting advanced aerospace development in Mesa, Arizona. This is a 2nd shift, 100% onsite role ideal for early career or experienced engineers who thrive in hands-on, lab-to-factory environments.

As a Composites M&P Engineer with PDS Tech, you will split your time between the office, materials lab, and production floor, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and directly influencing real aerospace hardware.

What You’ll Do
Apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods
Provide technical evaluation and hands-on support to composite part fabrication
Execute root-cause investigations and drive corrective/preventive actions for material and process issues
Create and execute test plans, write reports, and contribute to materials and process specifications
Qualify/approve equipment, materials, and manufacturing processes
Guide material testing activities in the Materials & Processes Laboratory
Collaborate with Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement
Travel to suppliers when necessary to support process validation and troubleshooting
Integrate new technologies and promote process standardization across product lines
Manage test/audit programs, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles
Work in a multidisciplinary, professional environment supporting advanced proprietary aerospace platforms
Position Responsibilities (Summary)
Hands-on support for composite and polymer matrix material processing
Development of material properties, test methods, and process controls
Resolution of production issues using analytical and investigative tools
Writing specifications, technical documentation, and qualification reports
Cross-functional coordination across engineering, production, and quality teams
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in: Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science.
Bachelor’s degree + 2+ years experience
OR Master’s degree
Willingness to work 2nd shift
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years working with composites, elastomers, and associated manufacturing techniques
Hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry and analytical test methods
Familiarity with materials such as:
Epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide reinforcements, adhesives, and bonded structures
Experience with composite failure modes and failure analysis
Ability to read engineering drawings and use MS Office
Experience writing specifications, test plans, and technical reports
Experience giving technical presentations or briefings
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
Security Requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance
