PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a world-renowned aerospace leader to recruit a Senior Technical Designer (Interiors) to support the Seats Integration Team (SIT) within the Payloads Organization. This role is based in Everett or Renton, WA and plays a critical role in the installation, integration, and certification of passenger and attendant seating systems on commercial aircraft.
Your work will directly influence aircraft safety, regulatory compliance, manufacturability, and the passenger experience across global airline fleets.
About the Role
This position spans the entire product lifecycle, from early customer configuration development and supplier engagement through production support and certification. As a key member of the Seats Integration Team, you will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, program teams, and leadership to deliver industry-leading interior products that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
You will combine technical expertise with cross-functional coordination to help certify and deliver best-in-class aircraft interiors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and maintenance of engineering product definition
Oversee the creation and modification of design layouts to meet customer, production, and certification requirements
Develop engineering product definition in alignment with company requirements and design parameters
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, to ensure compliance with applicable standards and functional requirements
Integrate work statements, work scope, and work transfer packages with technical and business requirements
Oversee and align product definition activities across business partners to deliver a functional end product
Investigate and resolve complex manufacturing and engineering issues
Verify the accuracy and quality of engineering data produced by others
Support validation and verification of designs through production and certification processes
Required Qualifications
Associate’s (AA) degree in a related discipline
Typically 3 or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in engineering product definition
Background working with or designing for aerospace suppliers or airline customers
Experience supporting validation of compliance with regulatory requirements
Strong understanding of design for manufacturing
Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with aircraft seating systems or interiors
Software or programming experience (e.g., Visual Basic, Python, Java)
Experience supporting production environments and resolving in-service or manufacturing issues
Direct supplier engagement and cross-functional integration experience
