Summary:
Fabricate composite detail parts and subassemblies using carbon fiber, fiberglass, and other aerospace materials
Set up and operate automated lay-up machines
Perform composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly tasks
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and nonconformance dispositions for fabrication
Use fabrication tooling, materials, and automated/motorized equipment to produce assemblies
Select correct parts, materials, tools, and hardware to complete work in accordance with operations plans
Report job constraints including workmanship errors, defects, or procedural issues per procedures
Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for testing
Perform basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation
Apply routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance
Work on moderately complex articles following established drawings and requirements
Maintain strict safety practices, including use of safety glasses, harnesses, respirators, and other protective equipment
Maintain clean, organized, and FOD-free work area
Coordinate information with employees on other shifts
Electrical: Soldering on electronic/avionics products, assembly and installation of wire harnesses, adhesives and wire handling
Mechanical: Use of torque wrenches and mechanical assembly tools
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Typically 1+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
Safety conscious with consistent use of required safety equipment
Maintains exemplary housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control standards
Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work area
Coordinates pertinent information effectively with employees on other shifts
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Thermal Protection System (TPS)
Drilling experience
Painting/auto body experience
Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings
