Pay Rate Starting at : $27.31 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Shifts: Must be able to work all shifts (training conducted on 1st shift)
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Fabrication Specialist to support advanced aerospace manufacturing operations at Kennedy Space Center. In this hands-on role, you will fabricate and assemble high-performance composite and mechanical components that directly support aerospace and spaceflight programs. Your craftsmanship will contribute to mission-critical hardware where quality, safety, and precision are essential.
As a Fabrication Specialist, you will perform a wide range of composite, electrical, and mechanical fabrication tasks, including:
Fabricating composite detail parts and subassemblies using carbon fiber, fiberglass, and other lightweight aerospace materials
Performing composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly using hand lay-up methods and NC/automated equipment
Setting up and operating automated lay-up machines and motorized fabrication equipment
Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, planning documents, and nonconformance dispositions
Selecting correct parts, materials, tooling, hardware, and standards to execute work instructions accurately
Preparing test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for testing activities
Performing basic organic chemical conversion, paint preparation, and application of organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance
Executing electrical assembly tasks including soldering, wire harness assembly, and avionics product installation
Performing mechanical assembly tasks using torque wrenches and other precision tools
Reporting workmanship issues, material defects, tooling issues, or process constraints per established procedures
Coordinating work and communicating effectively across shifts
Maintaining exemplary housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) standards
Adhering to all safety requirements and wearing required personal protective equipment at all times
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 1 year of related fabrication or manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience performing hands-on fabrication, assembly, or manufacturing tasks
Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings and work instructions
Electrical skills including soldering, wire handling, and harness assembly
Mechanical aptitude, including experience using torque wrenches
Willingness and ability to work all assigned shifts
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience working with thermal protection systems (TPS)
Drilling experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment
Background in painting or autobody work
Experience working with composite materials and aerospace structures
