Pay Rate Starting at: $72.59 per hour
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly skilled Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer to support a premier aerospace organization in Berkeley, Missouri. In this critical role, you will apply advanced NDE principles to ensure material integrity, regulatory compliance, and product reliability across complex aerospace systems. Your expertise will directly influence safety, affordability, and long-term performance throughout the product lifecycle.
As an NDE Engineer, you will work with minimal supervision to evaluate, develop, and qualify materials, processes, and technologies used in aerospace manufacturing and maintenance. Key responsibilities include:
Applying nondestructive evaluation methods such as acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, optical, and radiologic techniques
Defining and approving requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used in design, manufacturing, and maintenance
Leading development, validation, and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes
Producing and maintaining technical specifications and documentation to support standardized deployment
Managing supplier qualification activities, including test programs and audits
Ensuring compliance with industry codes, standards, and customer requirements (ASNT, ASTM, AWS, ASME, ISO, etc.)
Conducting complex failure investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions
Evaluating emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
Using project management tools to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives
Supporting audits and serving as a subject matter expert for NDE-related issues
Providing consultation and technical input to support team strategies and objectives
This is a non-managerial, individual contributor role.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited institution in engineering, physics, or chemistry
Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
5 or more years of hands-on NDE/NDT engineering experience in a regulated industry (aerospace, defense, energy, etc.)
Experience with NDE techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection
Strong understanding of materials behavior, stress analysis, and fracture mechanics
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different locations
Active or current U.S. Secret Security Clearance (preferred but not required)
Education & Experience Equivalency:
Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience
Master’s degree with 7+ years of experience
PhD with 4+ years of experience
