PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Fabricator Prototype to support advanced flight test and prototype aircraft programs in Wichita, Kansas. In this hands-on role, you’ll contribute directly to cutting-edge aircraft development, helping transform engineering concepts into flight-ready reality.
As a Fabricator Prototype BFTC, you will support flight test and experimental aircraft programs through precision fabrication, modification, assembly, and testing of aircraft components and systems. Your work will directly impact aircraft performance, safety, and innovation by supporting engineering, testing, and production teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Perform final assembly on experimental equipment and tire build-ups for flight test aircraft
Modify flight test aircraft components according to engineering requirements
Support production teams in building or assembling first-article and designated aircraft
Fabricate and modify production and experimental aircraft parts per engineering specifications
Maintain detailed records of changes, inspections, and tire histories
Assist engineering with revising and validating functional test procedures
Set up fixtures for static, fatigue, pressure, bird-strike, and load testing
Prepare aircraft components and systems for various test programs
Perform nondestructive and destructive testing, including cycle and ultimate load tests
Assist with aircraft mock-ups and flight test configurations
Support offsite aircraft testing as required
Inspect, maintain, and repair ground support equipment
Install experimental parts on aircraft per engineering direction
Order parts and materials required for mock-up, assembly, and installation activities
Basic knowledge of aircraft systems and test preparation systems
Working knowledge of sheet metal and/or composite fabrication and assembly
Ability to read and interpret aircraft blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and manuals
Familiarity with aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, and equipment manuals, including applicable FAA documentation
Understanding of flight-line ground safety procedures
Proficiency in flat pattern layout and precision measurement techniques
Skilled use of hand tools and powered shop equipment
Ability to fabricate, assemble, seal, and troubleshoot aircraft components and test systems
Mechanical aptitude with tools such as rivet guns, drill presses, grinders, brakes, shears, and band saws
Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications (crane, forklift, power lift, bonding, sealing, etc.)
Advanced sheet metal fabrication skills
Advanced composite fabrication skills
Experience using and interpreting precision measurement instruments
Prior experience supporting flight test or prototype aircraft programs
