Design What Passengers See—and What Makes Flight Possible

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading aerospace innovator to hire Structural & Payload Design Engineers (Associate and Experienced levels) to support the Interiors Team in Everett and Renton, Washington. This role puts you at the center of aircraft interiors, cargo systems, and safety—designing the features that define airline brands and shape how millions of passengers experience flight.

Role Summary

As a Structural & Payload Design Engineer, you’ll support products across the full lifecycle—from early customer configuration and supplier engagement through production and certification. You’ll collaborate across engineering disciplines and with external partners to design, integrate, and certify best-in-class interiors and payload systems that meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Do Day to Day

  • Assist in developing, integrating, and documenting structural and interior payload system requirements

  • Design and modify structural and interior payload components using 3D CAD tools and other engineering methods

  • Provide product definition to engineering, production, suppliers, and customers throughout the product lifecycle

  • Perform and support testing and verification to ensure systems meet requirements and specifications

  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize design, support production, and achieve program goals

  • Support production, certification, and engineering release processes

  • Participate in investigations of emerging technologies and future product concepts

  • Work cross-functionally with project engineering, production engineering, program teams, and leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or Materials Science)

  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, including design criteria and engineering release processes

  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA regulatory requirements

  • Experience with aerospace interiors, materials, properties, and design release processes

  • Experience supporting production systems, suppliers, or airline customers

  • Exposure to aircraft cargo compartment and handling system design, integration, and/or certification

  • 2+ years of experience in project or program management

  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams

  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
