Summary:
Serve as Lead Engineer for assigned TVC hardware and system elements, owning technical requirements, baselines, change management, and certification artifacts.
Lead technical planning, execution, and trade studies for TVC architecture, including actuator sizing, control laws, thermal and mechanical loads, lubrication, materials, and redundancy considerations.
Develop and approve technical requirements, drawing packages, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and test plans; ensure compliance with system requirements.
Lead supplier technical program management, including source selection support, technical direction, performance monitoring, design reviews, supplier risk assessments, corrective action oversight, and configuration control.
Coordinate and execute subsystem- and system-level test campaigns (component testing, qualification, hot-fire, functional, and acceptance testing); analyze data and lead anomaly investigation and resolution.
Perform and oversee structural, thermal, fluid, and control systems analyses, including FEA, dynamic modeling, control simulations, margin assessments, and life-cycle predictions; validate analytical models against test data.
Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), reliability and maintainability assessments, and life-limited parts tracking.
Lead multidisciplinary engineering reviews and represent the TVC discipline in system-level design reviews and integration meetings.
Mentor and guide a team of engineers and technical specialists.
Communicate technical status, risks, and mitigation plans to program leadership, suppliers, and stakeholders through clear verbal briefings and written technical reports.
Requirements:
Bachelor s, Master s, or PhD from an accredited institution in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry, with 15 20+ years of experience depending on degree level.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Thrust Vector Control (TVC) engineering.
Proven experience as a technical lead (Responsible Engineer, Chief Engineer, or Lead Engineer).
Experience with actuators, pivots, nozzles, control electronics, and sensors.
Propulsion experience, specifically within spaceflight systems (e.g., Space Shuttle, launch systems, or commercial space programs).
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with data analysis and modeling tools, including MATLAB and NASTRAN.
Prior experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes.
