Propulsion Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with an aerospace industry leader to hire a Senior Propulsion Engineer serving as a Certification Advisor for Main Engines, Fuel Systems, and APUs. As a Propulsion Engineer (Senior Certification Advisor), you will lead and advise complex certification activities across development and production programs. Your expertise will drive certification strategy, ensure regulatory compliance with global authorities, and deliver high-quality certification artifacts that keep programs on schedule and compliant. Your leadership will shape outcomes for propulsion and fuel systems on world-class aircraft.
Develop and execute certification plans and strategies for propulsion, fuel system, and APU changes
Partner with program management to define scope, prioritize work, and establish realistic schedules
Lead cross-functional certification teams and represent the applicant with FAA, EASA, and other regulators
Review and approve certification artifacts, including requirements, compliance matrices, test plans, verification reports, safety assessments, and certification plans
Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, design, verification, and compliance deliverables
Coordinate with engineering SMEs, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams
Identify certification risks early and drive mitigation strategies to closure
Support and participate in regulatory audits, conformity reviews, and certification milestones
Mentor and guide engineers on certification processes and regulatory expectations
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, or a related engineering discipline
20+ years of experience in aircraft certification and/or propulsion, fuel systems, or APU engineering
Demonstrated success interfacing with FAA and EASA on complex certification efforts
Proven ability to develop certification strategies and close certification findings
Strong knowledge of systems integration, verification methods, requirements traceability, and safety assessment processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical justification clearly
Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple priorities in large programs
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Master’s or Doctorate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline
Previous experience mentoring engineers or leading certification teams
Background supporting development and production programs for large commercial aircraft
