Checmial Operations Technician

Description:
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Chemical Operations Technician for a contract opportunity in Torrance, CA.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Previous chemical or manufacturing experience preferred
•Basic computer skills
•Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
•Good math skills
•Ability to work independently and execute strenuous physical activities
•Ability to work indoors and outdoors and on any shift
•Must be able to read and write English


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Package and ship finished goods
•Load, unload, and clean equipment
•Maintain a safe and orderly work area
•Assist other production areas as needed
•Perform yard responsibilities including sampling, weighing, inspecting loads, loading trucks, railcars, and iso-containers
•Fill and package drums and totes
•Operate and field-check process equipment
•Monitor process conditions and control systems
•Perform troubleshooting and initiate work requests in SAP
•Participate in Immediate Response Training and IR team activities
•Support EH&S initiatives and improvement teams
•Dispose of waste and hazardous materials properly
•Complete Operator Minor Maintenance activities
•Contribute to AIMS initiatives and improve unit operating efficiencies
•Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
•Experience in chemical plant operations
•Knowledge of SAP for work requests
•Familiarity with EH&S programs and RCRA training

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
•Ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and climb
•Ability to work in varying environmental conditions

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
•Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent

WORK HOURS:
•Full-time
•Scheduled and unscheduled overtime required
