ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT MECHANIC

Description:

ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT MECHANIC – BUILD THE FUTURE OF AEROSPACE
Huntington Beach, CA | Full-Time Consultant (12 Months) | Starting Pay $80.81/hr | 1st Shift (6AM–2:30PM)

Step into a career where precision craftsmanship meets cutting-edge aerospace innovation. PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced Engineering Development Mechanic who will play a critical role in building, modifying, and improving the advanced mechanical and structural assemblies that power next-generation aircraft systems.

Make an Impact in a High-Skill, Hands-On Role

As an Engineering Development Mechanic, you will support the full spectrum of mechanical build activities—from heavy structure drill-outs to fastener installation, bonding, mechanical assembly, and wire harness installation. Your expertise will directly influence product quality, design improvements, and successful development of key aerospace programs.

This role bridges hands-on craftsmanship with technical execution, working from work orders, engineering designs, models, and procedures to complete high-precision builds.

What You’ll Do

  • Fabricate, assemble, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical and structural components.

  • Use standard hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, and calibrated equipment to perform high-tolerance work.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including buyoffs, inspections, and non-conformance records.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers, offering input on design enhancements and process improvements.

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, specifications, and technical data.

  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and configuration control.

  • Support production lines by executing planned work through formal procedures and engineering instructions.

  • Provide reliable, consistent attendance and contribute as a hands-on, non-managerial team member.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent experience in aircraft maintenance, machine trades, or manufacturing technologies.

  • Extensive experience with composites, titanium, sheet metal, riveting, fastening, wiring, tubing, and basic machining.

  • Proficient using torque wrenches, countersinks, drills, deburring tools, and precision instruments.

  • Ability to interpret drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and engineering data.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and effective communication with engineers and teammates.

  • Education/experience typically gained through a bachelor's degree plus 15+ years of related experience, a master’s degree plus 13 years, or 19+ years of equivalent hands-on expertise.

This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A&P certification, specialty technical training, or comparable industry certifications.

  • Experience working in advanced aerospace manufacturing environments.
