Summary:
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly experienced Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to join our team, partnering with a global leader in the aerospace industry. This role supports major aerospace Defense, Space & Security projects, including the US E-7A, VC-25B, and KC-46A Tanker.
Location: San Antonio, TX (onsite)
Alternate hiring locations: Oklahoma City, OK or Titusville, FL
Type: Full-Time, Consultant (12 months)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift (Start between 6 AM–9 AM)
Pay Rate: Starting at $63.31/hour-$77.00
As an EMC Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing, testing, and validating Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements that integrate advanced systems into complex aerospace platforms. Your work will ensure continued airworthiness and mission readiness for key defense and commercial aircraft.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead complex trade studies, modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize designs for E3 performance.
Achieve electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) across systems, wiring, and structures.
Partner with manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure system-level compatibility.
Support project management through budget, schedule, and work statement development.
Apply EMI engineering expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
Conduct and review EMI/EMC qualification testing in accordance with aerospace standards (MIL-STD-461/464, DO-160).
Communicate findings and technical results across internal teams and external review boards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, physics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) or related engineering roles.
Strong understanding of RF isolation, shielding, grounding, and filtering principles.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
ABET-accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s/PhD in Electrical Engineering.
Active U.S. Security Clearance.
Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
Working knowledge of MIL-STD-461/464, DO-160, and aircraft-level E3 test methods.
Experience with RF systems, EMI qualification testing, and computational E3 analytical tools.
Familiarity with electrical bonding best practices for E3 compliance.
