PDS Tech Commercial, partnering with a world-renowned aerospace leader, is seeking a Test and Verification Engineer (Technical Lead) to join a cutting-edge engineering initiative in Cambridge, MA. In this full-time, 12-month consulting role, you’ll lead test and verification efforts for next-generation aerospace software systems—ensuring the precision, reliability, and safety that define world-class aviation.
What You’ll Do:
As a Technical Lead Engineer, you’ll oversee the design, setup, and execution of sophisticated test and verification processes for complex software and hardware systems. Working with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll leverage advanced automation tools, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, and AI technologies to accelerate development and validation across mission-critical avionics platforms.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Lead the setup and configuration of hardware, software, and network test environments that replicate real-world conditions.
Develop and execute test plans, cases, and scenarios to verify functionality, safety, and performance of aerospace software systems.
Oversee a small technical team, guiding efforts in automated test development and system integration.
Utilize tools such as NI TestStand, NI VeriStand, and NI LabVIEW to build and maintain automation frameworks for HIL testing.
Analyze, document, and report test results, identifying defects, potential vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate closely with software and DevSecOps teams to align test strategies with CI/CD pipelines and rapid development cycles.
Troubleshoot and debug complex software/hardware issues using hands-on testing and data analysis.
Contribute to technical strategy, exploring emerging technologies—including AI integration—to advance testing capabilities.
Ensure compliance with organizational safety, security, and data integrity standards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
7+ years of experience in test and verification engineering or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD + 3 years, Master’s + 5 years).
Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
Proficiency with NI TestStand, NI VeriStand, and NI LabVIEW, or similar HIL platforms.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Demonstrated success with automated test and verification methodologies.
Must be able to work fully onsite in Cambridge, MA.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of avionics communication protocols (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, CAN).
Experience verifying avionics display systems and FPGA-based architectures.
Familiarity with AI tools and modern HIL techniques.
Experience with data acquisition and signal processing.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Research or publications in AI or HIL testing a strong plus.
