Summary:
PDS Tech Commercial, partnering with a global leader in aerospace innovation, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Artificial Intelligence for a groundbreaking 12-month assignment in Cambridge, MA. In this high-impact role, you’ll be at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence into next-generation aerospace software—developing advanced AI models that enhance automation, safety, and efficiency across mission-critical systems.
What You’ll Do:
As a Senior AI Software Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and optimize intelligent algorithms that push the boundaries of what’s possible in flight systems and digital engineering. You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver AI solutions that transform the way software is developed, tested, and deployed in aerospace applications.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and document AI algorithms and models using state-of-the-art methods and tools—ensuring ethical and unbiased implementation.
Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to drive accuracy and performance improvements in AI models.
Train, validate, and optimize AI systems for deployment in complex, safety-critical aerospace environments.
Collaborate with DevSecOps and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) teams to integrate AI within automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
Leverage AI tools to accelerate software development, testing, and code generation.
Perform debugging, validation, and performance tuning for AI-enabled software components.
Lead and mentor junior engineers, guiding technical milestones and promoting innovative problem-solving.
Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and frameworks to continuously advance engineering practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline.
Typically 5+ years of related experience, or equivalent advanced education and experience combination.
Proficiency in Python, C, or C++ (experience with ADA or avionics software a plus).
Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Strong knowledge of automated testing tools (e.g., Google Test, PyTest).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Excellent collaboration, documentation, and communication skills.
Must be able to work fully onsite in Cambridge, MA.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education or experience in AI algorithms and model development.
Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Experience working in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability engineering environments.
