PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Tool and Fixture Specialist to join our team in partnership with a world leader in aerospace technology. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of production excellence — ensuring every fixture, tool, and handling system operates flawlessly, safely, and efficiently. Your expertise will directly impact aircraft manufacturing quality, performance, and innovation.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
Tool Setup & Inspection: Perform complex tool setup activities (alignment, leveling) and conduct detailed visual inspections using precise documentation.
Fabrication & Repair: Manufacture, repair, and maintain assembly and fabrication tools using both manual and computer-controlled machinery.
Design & Engineering: Design and reverse-engineer tooling solutions for part fabrication and assembly per engineering drawings or customer requests.
Demonstration & Validation: Validate new tool designs by producing first-article parts, ensuring quality and compliance before production rollout.
Training & Support: Train internal teams on the proper use, maintenance, and safety of below-the-hook and test equipment (scales, weights, rigging).
Testing & Compliance: Perform complex Proof Load (PL) tests to verify the structural integrity and safety of handling equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Documentation & Systems: Maintain detailed records of proof-load tests, inspections, and maintenance using systems such as MES, CMES, Maximo/CRPMS, and Cribmaster.
Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance tool reliability, safety, and lifecycle efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in tool fabrication, alignment, inspection, and maintenance.
Strong knowledge of manual and CNC machining, precision measurement, and assembly tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and operational manuals.
Experience performing Proof Load or structural integrity tests on handling equipment.
Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance for lifting and below-the-hook equipment.
Proficiency with software systems such as MES, CMES, Maximo/CRPMS, and Cribmaster.
Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace or manufacturing industry experience.
Background in tool design using CAD or similar design systems.
Experience training or mentoring others in tool use or proof-load processes.
Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to precision craftsmanship.
