Mechanical Technician

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 4th Shift: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Training: Conducted on 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) for up to 6 weeks

Pay Rate: $27.04 per hour
PDS Tech Commercial, in partnership with a global aerospace leader, is seeking a Mechanical Technician to perform precision testing, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced electronics and avionics equipment. Your work will directly support aircraft safety, reliability, and performance—keeping the world’s most sophisticated flight systems in top condition.
As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll take on challenging and rewarding work that blends hands-on mechanical skill with technical expertise. Daily responsibilities include:
Setting up and operating precision test equipment to align, troubleshoot, and test electrical and electronic systems.
Performing component-level diagnostics, repair, and modification of circuit card assemblies and avionics equipment.
Reading and interpreting schematics, technical drawings, and test procedures.
Aligning and adjusting complex electrical components to ensure proper function.
Conducting electrical/mechanical disassembly, repair, and reassembly operations.
Documenting all repairs, modifications, and time logs in compliance with quality and procedural standards.
Preparing and reviewing repair cost estimates and communicating technical details to internal and external customers.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and Lean practices to enhance quality and efficiency.
Ensuring all work complies with strict aerospace safety and workmanship standards.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or vocational certificate in electronics preferred).
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Experience with surface mount and through-hole soldering.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair at the component level using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and signal generators.
Strong understanding of basic electronics theory and circuit analysis.
Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Electronics or RF repair experience.
Familiarity with SAP or similar systems for data entry and tracking.
Prior experience working with avionics or aerospace systems.
