Summary:
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global aerospace leader to hire a Software Engineer – Embedded in Chandler, AZ. In this role, you’ll help develop cutting-edge real-time software that powers space-based defense systems and strengthens our nation’s security. Your work will contribute directly to the success of the Space Based Interceptor (SBI) Program, supporting missions that protect lives today — and for generations to come.
What You’ll Do:
As a Software Engineer, you’ll be part of a collaborative, multi-discipline engineering team developing advanced embedded systems for launch and space applications. You’ll be involved in every phase of the software lifecycle — from design and development to integration and testing — ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of critical aerospace systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, integrate, and test real-time embedded software for space-based defense programs.
Support requirements definition, architecture development, and detailed design activities.
Write, review, and maintain software in C/C++ within a Linux and RTOS environment.
Conduct debugging, validation, and verification to ensure compliance with software and system standards.
Collaborate with systems, electrical, and mechanical engineers to support hardware-in-the-loop and computer-in-the-loop testing.
Contribute to process improvement and ensure adherence to industry software standards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems, or a related engineering field.
Experience in Object-Oriented Software development (C/C++).
Hands-on experience with embedded real-time software design, development, and testing.
Knowledge of RTOS environments (VxWorks, Integrity, LynxOS, Yocto Linux, or similar).
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PowerPC, ARM, or RISC-V processor architectures.
Familiarity with real-time computer-in-loop and hardware-in-loop integration testing.
Experience developing interfaces for system hardware integration.
Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle in aerospace or defense applications.

Starting Pay Rate: $43.25 per hour
