Summary:
Perform structural repairs, overhauls, and modifications on F/A-18 EF flight controls and assemblies.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals.
Identify, install, and remove fasteners (rivets, blind rivets, screws, hi-locks, bolts, lock bolts) without damaging structures.
Apply cleaning, corrosion control, polishing, and surface treatments.
Conduct precision drilling and measuring on metallic and composite structures using tools such as micrometers, calipers, grip gauges, feeler gauges, and bore gauges.
Fabricate, trim, drill/ream, and assemble components; use assembly jigs and repair equipment to meet blueprint specifications.
Complete accurate maintenance documentation, logbooks, and work packages.
Review and apply Airworthiness Directives, Technical Directives, and Service Bulletins.
Communicate technical issues and discrepancies to leads and management.
Maintain first-time quality, efficiency, and safety compliance.
Perform tool inventories and keep a clean, organized workspace.
Use computers for reporting and documentation; participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Be flexible to support on-time aircraft delivery and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED, plus 1+ year of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
3+ years of experience as an Aircraft Mechanic (commercial, defense, or trade apprenticeship considered).
3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
Ability to drill and measure close tolerances within .003 (preferred .001 ).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Aerospace or defense aircraft maintenance experience.
Proven ability to perform independent work (experienced-level) or work with minimal supervision (associate-level).
Strong safety awareness and commitment to quality.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
