Location: Manassas, VA,

Position Overview:
We are seeking a senior-level Structural Analysis Engineer to lead advanced structural evaluations for hybrid-electric aircraft modifications. The role focuses on analyzing and validating structural integrity for the integration of a megawatt-class hybrid-electric propulsion system into a Saab 340B testbed. This is a critical position supporting the development of next-generation sustainable aviation technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead structural analysis efforts for modifications to the Saab 340B aircraft, including engine nacelles, airframes, and supporting structures for hybrid-electric propulsion components.

Perform detailed stress, strain, and load calculations using advanced FEA tools (e.g., Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus) to ensure structural integrity under various flight conditions.

Evaluate structural impacts of integrating new electrical, mechanical, and energy storage systems.

Develop, review, and approve structural analysis reports, documentation, and recommendations for design modifications.

Collaborate with design, systems, and flight test teams to ensure structural modifications meet performance, safety, and certification requirements.

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on structural analysis methods and best practices.

Support flight test planning, execution, and post-test analysis to validate structural performance.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

8+ years of experience in aerospace structural analysis, aircraft modifications, or experimental aircraft programs.

Expertise in finite element analysis (FEA), structural dynamics, and load analysis for aircraft structures.

Proficiency with CAD and FEA tools (CATIA, Nastran, ANSYS, or Abaqus).

Strong knowledge of aircraft structural materials, load paths, and safety factors.

Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with turboprop aircraft such as the Saab 340B or similar platforms.

Knowledge of hybrid-electric propulsion systems and associated structural integration challenges.

Prior involvement in flight test programs or certification processes for modified aircraft.

Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams.
