FAA Assembly & Test Technician

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking experienced and mechanically inclined for a FAA Assembly & Test Technician role on 2nd Shift at our Rocky Mount, NC facility. This position supports the production of sophisticated electromechanical and electro-hydraulic control systems for aircraft and helicopter engines in both commercial and military applications.
About the Role
As a FAA Assembly & Test Technician, you will perform standard testing and assembly processes using precision tools and equipment. You’ll follow detailed instructions and quality procedures to ensure compliance with aerospace standards. This role requires mechanical and technical expertise, computer proficiency, and the ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and test hydro-mechanical fuel controls using precision tools and measuring equipment
Perform in-process inspections, calibration, and quality checks
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and electronic work instructions
Maintain accurate documentation and records
Identify and report faulty operations, defective tools, or materials
Initiate corrective actions for product or process non-conformities
Maintain work areas and tools according to 5S and Visual Management standards
Participate in daily Tier meetings and continuous improvement activities
Work overtime as needed, including weekends
Complete vision testing within the first week of assignment
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
High school diploma (valued)
Mechanical and technical experience
Basic computer skills (MS Office, internet navigation)
Ability to follow detailed instructions and interpret blueprints
Proficiency with precision measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges)
Ability to work with hand tools
Intermediate math skills
Ability to lift over 30 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
Preferred Qualifications:
2–3 years of experience in assembly and/or test manufacturing
Associates degree
North Carolina WorkKeys Career Readiness Certificate (Silver or Gold)
Six Sigma training or certification
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a team environment
Experience in a dynamic aerospace production setting
Familiarity with 5S principles and continuous improvement practices

Pay Rate: $24.00/hr
Shift: 2nd Shift
Training: On-the-job training (OJT)
Location: Rocky Mount, NC (local candidates only; no relocation provided)
Subco Bonus Program: Up to $3,000
$1,000 at 14 days with perfect attendance
$1,000 at 60 days
$1,000 at 90 days (must have received 14-day bonus to qualify)
