PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our partner, a leader in the aerospace industry, supporting testing and analysis that drive advancements in propulsion and energetic materials. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic laboratory environment where precision, safety, and innovation come together to support critical aerospace programs.
As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll perform essential laboratory testing and analysis to ensure the quality and performance of materials used in propellants and pyrotechnics. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will play a key role in advancing the technology behind aerospace systems that power the future of flight.
Prepare specimens from Class 1.3 explosives for testing.
Conduct acceptance testing of ingredients used in propellants and pyrotechnics, including size analysis, moisture content, density, and thermal expansion.
Perform tests on Class 1.3 and Class 1.1 explosives, including tensile strength, heat output, and burning rate.
Execute ignition hazard tests such as impact, friction, spark, and heat.
Organize, record, and report test data accurately and efficiently.
Assist Development Engineers with device assembly and laboratory support.
Maintain equipment and daily logs, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure lab readiness.
Follow all safety protocols to maintain a clean, organized, and secure laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications:
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or related technical skills.
Ability to qualify to handle explosives under site BATF licensing.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical lab duties.
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience working with energetic materials or explosives.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and safety awareness.
Experience maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies.
