Research & Development Engineer
Advance Clean Energy Innovation – Research & Development (R&D) Engineer
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled R&D Engineer to support cutting-edge research in air purification, catalysis, thermal management, and fuel cell technologies. This is a hands-on, lab-based role ideal for engineers with strong experience in gas processing, lab operations, and data analysis.
About the Role
As an R&D Engineer, you’ll work onsite at our client’s facility in Des Plaines, IL to design, build, and test chemical and material prototypes. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation from early design through commercialization, while analyzing data to uncover key performance insights and support customer-focused development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support R&D efforts in air purification, catalysis, thermal management, and fuel cell technologies
- Design, build, and test chemical materials, subsystem prototypes, and gas/liquid test stands
- Analyze experimental data to identify critical performance factors and scientific insights
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to drive development
- Communicate findings to project leads, leadership, and customers
- Operate within planned schedules and budgets
- Contribute to safety and environmental stewardship programs
- Support external funding opportunities and customer relationships
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
- Strong experience in gas processing, lab operations, and data analysis
- Knowledge of chemical analysis and material characterization techniques
- Experience with real-time operating systems and embedded systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across global teams
- Familiarity with safety protocols and process technology
- Experience in cross-functional R&D environments

Pay Details: $35.00 per hour
