PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Manufacturing Technician to join our team in West Des Moines, IA. This role is perfect for individuals looking to grow their skills in aerospace manufacturing while working hands-on with advanced systems and assemblies. You’ll learn from experienced technicians and engineers while contributing to critical aerospace programs.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and assemble mechanical and electromechanical components and sub-assemblies under supervision.

• Set up and operate production equipment to ensure product specifications and tolerance levels are met.

• Follow blueprints, diagrams, and standard work instructions to perform tasks accurately.

• Use measuring and diagnostic tools—including computers, lasers, and mechanical/optical equipment.

• Perform troubleshooting, calibrations, and rework/repairs of systems and components.

• Maintain accurate production records, including test data, parts usage, and time changes.

• Support engineering teams with component design and prototype development.

• Adhere to safety (EHS), quality, and continuous improvement standards at all times.

• Participate in training and development to progress toward certification.

• Provide technical input, mentor newer technicians as trained, and contribute to process improvement.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with eagerness to learn and grow in aerospace manufacturing.

• Ability to read and follow blueprints, diagrams, and technical instructions.

• Willingness to work on 2nd shift schedule (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM).

• This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.                                               
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in mechanical assembly, calibration, or manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with precision measuring tools or diagnostic equipment.

• Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
