Seeking Automotive Catia Designer for San Maeto, CA area for CONTRACT work:
Overview
We are seeking a skilled CATIA Designer with strong experience in the automotive industry to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating 3D models, 2D drawings, and detailed designs using CATIA V5/V6, contributing to the development of high-performance automotive components and systems. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet both technical requirements and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of automotive components and assemblies using CATIA V5/V6.
Develop parametric models, assemblies, and technical drawings for prototyping and production.
Ensure all designs comply with automotive standards, specifications, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, simulation teams, and manufacturing engineers.
Conduct design reviews, incorporate feedback, and support design validation and testing activities.
Maintain proper revision control and documentation of all design work.
Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, weight, and performance.
Support the development of BOMs (Bill of Materials) and technical data packages.
Skills
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience as a CATIA Designer in the automotive sector.
Proficient in CATIA V5 (mandatory); experience with CATIA V6/3DEXPERIENCE is a plus.
Strong knowledge of automotive components and systems, such as body-in-white, interior, exterior, chassis, or powertrain.
Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., ENOVIA, Teamcenter).
Solid understanding of engineering drawings, tolerancing, and material selection.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
