Bring Precision to Defense Projects – Now Hiring Technical Editor and Writer 

Location: Elkridge, MD (Onsite)
Pay: $22.15 – $29.53/hour

PDS Tech Commercial is hiring a Technical Editor and Writer 3 to support a leading defense contractor in Elkridge, Maryland. In this role, you’ll turn complex technical information into clear, precise documentation that meets strict military standards. Your work will directly support the delivery of advanced military sensors and systems critical to national defense.

What You’ll Do

• Edit technical documents for grammar, style, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.

• Partner with writers, engineers, instructors, and team leads to publish and deliver documentation.

• Create and maintain templates, style guides, and formatting standards.

• Perform desktop publishing for technical data products in both print and electronic formats.

• Apply Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100) standards when required.

What You’ll Bring

Basic Qualifications (Level 3)

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.

• 5–10 years of technical editing experience (3+ with a Master’s degree).

• 5+ years editing both page-based and structured content (HTML, SGML, XML, S1000D, or DITA).

• Experience creating and modifying templates, style sheets, and formats.

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years with structured authoring tools (MadCap, FrameMaker, Arbortext).

• Familiarity with Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100).

• Membership in the Society for Technical Communicators (STC).

• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
