Composite Technician
Location: Kinston, NC 28504
Job Type: Full-time, Consultant (6 Months)
Schedule: Monday to Friday; must be available for any assigned shift (including off shifts and weekends as needed)
Pay Rate: $34–$37 per hour + $110 weekly per diem (for candidates residing 100+ miles away)
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Composite Technician to partner with a global leader in the aerospace industry. In this role, you’ll work with advanced materials, bonding processes, and precision tooling to produce high-quality composite components that keep aircraft safe and reliable. Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering world-class aerospace products and driving innovation in the industry.
Lay out, assemble, pre-fit, and bond composite and metal fabrications, assemblies, skins, and parts.
Follow engineering specifications and work instructions for bonding, pressure, and temperature requirements.
Cut, sand, burr, and smooth materials; apply sealing resins to exposed edges.
Operate autoclaves, hydraulic presses, ovens, and precision lay-up tools (optical and hard tools).
Read and interpret prints, charts, sketches, and electronic work orders.
Verify work against specifications and quality standards.
Use and control solvents, cleaning solutions, and bonding materials per established procedures.
Perform minor equipment and tool maintenance, ensuring certifications are current.
Move and track product within the production area, supporting continuous workflow.
Train and assist other employees; pursue MVP qualification.
Perform rework or repairs as needed and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on composites experience.
Aerospace industry background is required.
Ability to stand and perform physical work for entire 8-hour shifts.
Must be available to work any shift assigned, including weekends.
Must be able to start immediately.
Successful completion of required computer-based and hands-on training (including pleating, edge sealing, and document use/testing).
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong skills in blueprint reading, precision measuring instruments, and shop math.
Experience with manufacturing processes or similar aerospace programs.
