Asset Design Engineer
Job Type: Full-time; Consultant (12 Months)
Location: North Charleston, SC
Schedule: Monday–Friday, First Shift (8 AM–5 PM)
Starting Pay : $61.35 per hour
PDS Tech Commercial, in partnership with a leading name in the aerospace industry, is seeking a highly skilled Asset Design Engineer to bring innovation, precision, and problem-solving expertise to complex tooling and equipment design. In this role, you’ll directly influence the success of aerospace product development by designing, evaluating, and implementing critical assets that keep production moving efficiently and safely.
As an Asset Design Engineer, you’ll:
Investigate and develop advanced equipment and tooling concepts to support aerospace product design and build requirements.
Participate in design reviews, collect requirements, and create or revise detailed drawings and 3D models.
Research and apply emerging technologies such as robotics and automation to optimize the build plan.
Prepare off-load packages, specifications, purchase requests, and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.
Ensure compliance with safety, reliability, ergonomics, and regulatory standards in all designs.
Develop inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and training documentation.
Provide technical support for engineering changes, troubleshoot discrepancies, and analyze data to identify solutions.
Maintain both hardware and software configurations, while assessing and recommending equipment/tooling disposition.
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree and 3+ years of related experience, OR
Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of related experience, OR
5+ years of directly related work experience.
Strong proficiency in equipment/tooling design and drafting practices.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety, ergonomics, and regulatory compliance.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience integrating robotics, automation, or advanced technologies into design solutions.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across teams.
